- Defines documents and executes projects within the Platform group, actively participating in all phases of the project. Strong ability to translate business requirements into functional/technical requirements for development teams.
- Strong understanding of Agile and SCRUM methodologies
- Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects.
- Support the Product Owner in managing expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance
- Define and manage a well-defined project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Project Management.
- Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team.
- May develop or assist in developing business cases for large projects with significant impact to company goals.
- Agrees scope and constraints to enable costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful completion of each project to be estimated.
- Expected to display core competencies such as Project Delivery, Risk Management, and Estimating and Planning.
This position reports to Project Management Office for the Platform Technology Organization. The Platform group owns and manages a number of value capabilities that can be leveraged across Thomson Reuters including social tools, content production platforms and news technology. The Platform PMO provides portfolio and project management for strategic platforms. These projects are large highly visible and cross-functional nature. The Platform group PMO is seeking a high-energy, results-driven, motivated individual who combines strong project management skills with proactive leadership for the position of the Project Manager.This role will define scope and manage bounded areas of project work while supporting business and programme management staff within the Platforms project team. Typical scope of the projects will be up to 12 months. The projects are cross functional and critical to the company meeting its objectives.The job holder will be responsible for planning, leading, organizing and motivating agile team to achieve high level of performance and quality in delivering projects that provide exceptional business value. Initiating and managing multiple projects in parallel, based in multiple locations and with multiple dependencies in & out, with little/no supervision. Works with functional units to coordinate staffing to align with requirements. Uses influence to eliminate bottlenecks and potential resource alignment problems. Manages projects within Thomson Reuters Project Practice standards to time, quality and budget. Many different parts of the organization as well as external partners need to be involved to achieve goals, some may have conflicting priorities and working (cultural) practices may be very different.
- Qualifications
Qualification· Bachelors Degree or equivalent· Overall 8+ years of experience including 4 + years of Project Management Experience Skill Set & Experience: · Experience with content pathways preferred· Demonstrated project planning and management skills with working knowledge of project management methodology and software· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills· Ability to work effectively in a professional manner with technology staff, business stake holders, end users, all levels of management and other outside the organization· Demonstrated experience managing projects via agile methodology· Demonstrated experience in creating and leading cross-functional and often remote project teams· Ability to adjust and set priorities to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment· Ability to work independently, Self-motivated with ability to drive projects.· Experience with business cases and compiling and analyzing information to estimate project costs· Ability to work in a matrix organization and managing projects with minimal supervision· Experience of collaboration platforms like SharePoint, Clarity, JIRA, etc.· Technology/Development background is a plus At Thomson Reuters, we deliver intelligent information quickly and efficiently, so professionals have knowledge to act.
